Master and Commander is without a doubt the most phenominal film these eyes of mine have ever encountered. I consider myself something of a history buff, and the attention to detail and historical accuracy is appreciated greatly. It acheives the spectacular feat of being compelling without going overboard with special effects or superficial trivialities. The raw story of these events is enough to keep me watching it over and over again. It was not always this way.
This film is the story of the "HMS Surprise" being sent on a mission to seek and destroy the French ship "Acheron" along the coast of South America.
My mom essentially dragged me to the theatre because she was interested in the film. I was highly reluctant to go but I attentively viewed the entire piece. At first reflection, I thought nothing much of the movie, but as time went on I found that it was trapped in the prison of my mind. I received it as a gift upon my request. I will make the rough estimate of saying that I have viewed it upwards of 15-20 times. Captain "Lucky" Jack Aubrey will always be my homie.
